LOVE IT!
by Petitehoney at Citysearch
Love this salon! You get a warm welcome with an offer for the beverage of your choice. I didn't wait long at all. The stylist listened carefully to what I had to say and acted accordingly. The cut and color is the best I've ever had. I plan on making this my regular salon. Based on other reviews I'll make sure to make my appointments in advance---it'll be worth it! Thanks Spirals!!
- Pros: Fabulous cut and color, warm welcome, attentive.
- Cons: A little pricey, parking
Superb Salon

I have known and been a client of Tonja's (Tonja is the owner of Spirals) for over ten years. Tonja is a consummate hair stylist and colorist. She is one of those people who is always looking to improve her skills and knowledge of style, hair care and customer service.
During the past ten years I have also tried other stylists in Tucson and Phoenix. And Tonja tops the list. She constantly improves upon my cut and color. I give her top marks.
- Pros: expert individualized attention
- Cons: no drawbacks
Great Mens Haircut
by TucsonFan at Citysearch
I've had my hair cut at Spirals by George, Pierre and Joseph and was happy with each of them. They all did a great job, asked how I wanted it cut and it looked great each time. I will recommend Spirals for all of my guy friends. Plus, it was very clean each time I was there, which is important.

Horrible haircut skill
by walau at Citysearch
If you're only looking for a comfortable environment, then there's no problem for you. Service is okay, but the hairstylist skill is horrible!!! When I say horrible, I really mean horrible...Please don't go to this place you'll definitely regret.

Hello, I just wanted to give a heads up that after 4 years at Spirals Salon I have decided to make a move to Designing Heads located on the South-west side of Fort Lowell and Alvernon, next door to Le Rendez-vous. I am excited for everyone to experience the light-hearted, up-beat and quality service that Designing Heads and myself will provide for all guests. To make an appointment please call 520-982-3377 or stop in to say hello! Thank you all for your continued support through my journey to opening my own salon in the near future.
- Pros: Beautiful cute salon conveniently located
BEST SALON EVER!!!!
by LUVinPINK at Citysearch
I have been going to Sprials for 7 months now and it is by far the best salon. It is classy without being stuffy. I look forward to my appointments because Krystal always does such a great job with my cut and color, and it is so fun and relaxing being there. I love the repore and respect they all have for each other. I have never seen such comradery between stylists. It is also very clean! I have been to some higher end salons that made me a bit quesy when I looked up at the ceiling fans and vents while having my hair washed. It is just a treat to have great service and Krystal is genuinely concerned about her client's satisfaction and she is more than a stylist, she is an artist who uses hair as a medium. The prices are soooo reasonable. The first few times I went, I thought there was a mistake with the total. I can't imagine anyone would have a negative experience at Spirals.
- Pros: Read Review
- Cons: Location
Jackie's the best colorist!
by tucsongal78 at Citysearch
I recently had an appointment at Spirals and saw Jackie after some co-workers referred her. She was great. I really enjoyed my visit from start to finish. I knew I was going to the right person because during my appointment 3 other stylists came up and asked her questions about doing their clients hair color. I've never been able to get my hair to the right blonde color that still has other colors and isn't really chunky or too yellow. She did it, i've also never had that much foil in my hair! I have long hair and always leave with the ends looking blah and layers that don't work, Jackie gave me an amazing haircut that I love! I was scared to see the bill after all the work that was put into my hair and how great it looked, but was shocked to see I paid less than I'm used to paying. I definitely loved going to Spirals and am excited at how much everone including myself, love my hair! I definitely reccomend seeing Jackie, she's the best!
- Pros: Jackie does the best color!, everyone is super nice
- Cons: a little hard to find
Friendly, Well Meaning but a True Disappointment
by shoppertunistic at Citysearch
There is good and bad so I will be fair. The staff was friendly, attentive. They made sure I had something to drink and read. There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The stylist didn't skimp on products.I was seen very close to my appt. time and was out in about 2hrs.My stylist was Jackie and she was warm and personable. Now for the not so good or really, just plain bad.My hair is quite curly. We agreed that it should be cut dry.I have never had a cut where individual curls were pulled out and just snipped a bit at the ends.I must have had a total of only 15 curls trimmed. The rest of my hair went untouched.Jackie did say she would go back through it after it was wet but forgot to do so.I have a ton of hair and hadn't had a haircut in nearly 5 mos.!I needed more than 15 curls cut.We also discussed trimming just a bit in the front but she forgot to do that as well.I remembered but after my first "haircut" I thought it better not to mention it.We talked about highlights and covering gray. She put in foils (fewer than 10) for the highlights but never touched the base so I left with as much gray as I had arrived with.I went to a salon to get my hair DONE and left without a real haircut and with few noticeable highlights and a head full of gray.I lost confidence in my stylist early on and decided to just get through it with as little damage as possible instead of pointing out what she was forgetting (things a pro just wouldn't forget) for fear that she would truly jack me.I kept thinking it would get better but it never did.I hesitated to write this because Jackie is so likable but I wanted to save someone else with my type of hair (very curly, thick, med texture) the $140 I spent for absolutely nothing.Jackie is probably fine with "easy' hair but btwn not knowing what to do with my type of hair and just forgetting to do what she was supposed to I was truly disappointed. My $ were a GIFT.Despite the name they do not know how to handle all types of curls.Merry Christmas.
- Pros: Ambience,Friendliness of Staff
- Cons: Lack of Attention to Detail, Lacking Depth of Knowledge of all Hair Types
Need to Burn Your Money? This is the Place to BE!
by ReasonableGirl at Citysearch
This was horrible. I don't really want to specify names here, since I got the the most available stylist at the place... the other stylists had weeks of waiting. But, since it WAS for a special occasion, I decided to go for it, even though I knew the prices began at something like $65 for a TRIM. What a mistake. I made absolutely SURE that this guy knew all I wanted was the dead ends off... which shouldn't be much length, since I just had 6" cut 2 months ago, but this guy cut off ANOTHER 6"!!! When I asked him why he had done that,. he fancifully told me that we just HAD to get rid of those dead ends. Now, I don't know about all of y'all, but, I did NOT go to grad school to pay to have mistakes made TO me, I did that to solve mistakes done to others'!!! Simply put, if I could turn back time, I'd not have paid $100 for a horrifying hairCUT. :( Oh well.
REALLY GREAT...if you can afford it and can get in.

Jacqueline is wonderful. She does a great job on hair cuts and color. I loved the way she did my hair and I had never received so many compliments. But, it is very pricey. Also, you have to book an appointment weeks ahead of time. So if you have that itch to do something new with your hair and want to satisfy that craving now, you will have to wait. If you can wait, Jacqueline is worth it.
- Pros: Wonderful skills in color and cutting
- Cons: $$$$ Pricey and hard to get in.
