Gourmet dining meets stylish surroundings at this downtown bistro.
by Contributor
The Scene
Formerly known as Barrio Grill, Barrio Food and Drink is an engaging neighborhood bistro tucked away downtown on 6th Avenue. With high ceilings, tile floors and art borrowed from local galleries, this little restaurant has style in addition to a great location. Stop by the bar for a drink before or after a performance at the Convention Center or the nearby Temple of Music and Art.
The Food
Chef Jeff Glomski whips up daily specials ranging from meat loaf to exotic signature dishes like chicken, dried papaya and mango in a chipotle Chardonnay cream sauce over linguine. The standard menu barely fills a single page of large type, but there is an assortment of small plates, vegetarian items and salads in addition to the beef and fish specials.

I think Ive discovered the most excellent burger in Tucson thus far. It was affordable too. The patty was blended with chopped jalapeno, just the right amount. I had mine cooked medium and it was juicy and tasty with just the right degree of kick. Luckily I was with my friend who doesnt indulge in anything spicy so I could have this burger all to myself. The spicy curly fries that come with it are tasty as well and I did my usual fries dipped in mayo routine. Im sure that just makes everyone want to eat next to me. The entire experience was nice at Barrio Food and Drink as it seems to be called now. The service was excellent and the ambience was great, cozy and rustic in a good way, if that makes any sense. Dont forget to try the burger.
