This original Catalina foothills resort offers traditional southwestern ambience and great views.. The Scene
When the resort was built in 1912 there was basically nothing else in the area, other than the untouched desert landscape and mountains. Now the resort is bordered by residential developments and more lavish holiday properties. Despite renovations, it is still not as up-to-date as its competitors, but its adobe accommodations, western decor, 80 acres of desert landscape, tremendous views and respected heritage attract guests seeking a less hyped-up resort experience.

The Details
Guests here will find many traditional amenities, including three swimming pools, eight tennis courts and horseback riding. As well, the property courts its setting with interpretive nature trails, a telescope for star gazing and spa treatments that use all natural, desert botanicals. The Gold Room is a favorite with locals, who come for reliable cuisine and great night views of the city, and the casual Lookout Bar & Grill offers dancing on the weekends with house band Johnny and the Nightrain.

This local gem offers so much more than just resort rooms and deep pocket prices! You can't beat the prices for the exceptional amenities and service they provide. The Gold Room food and wine selections were fantasitc, it is clear why they have won so many awards of excellence, not to mention the gorgeous city view from where we were seated. Unbeatable!

Hands down, the Westward Look is a place I will return time and time again!

A True Oasis. Althought it's been a while since I last stayed at this phenomenal resort, the experience then was incredible. First-rate accomodations (most with sepectacular desert views) and a friendly and informative staff matched only (possibly) by Disneyland cast members.

I stayed here for a week and found everything well worth the somewhat remote location.
