Ikkyus Tonkatsu Ramen. Winning.
When you first walk in, there is not actually much to look at. It has typical small Japanese restaurant syndrome with minimal decoration and dated surroundings. However this prevents the sensory overload and aural domination of most restaurants. Once you start eating your food however, nothing matters except whats in front of you and your chopsticks.
This is not a table service establishment and as you go to the counter to order, you are greeted by an extremely friendly employee. On Fridays and Saturdays they serve their special Tonkatsu Ramen which is hands down the most delicious bowl you can get. After ordering you end up hawking down a seat for there are very few tables in the restaurant. Soon they will call your order out, bringing you one step closer to dinner nirvana.
The Tonkatsu Ramen is one of my favorite dishes and Ikkyu makes the best bowl in Arizona. Everywhere else pales in comparison. It has slices of pork, noodles, all in a milky, salty, delicious broth. Another plus to this divine bowl is the size; the portions are huge. I could live off of this meal for it is absolutely perfect.
