32.494470 -110.925663Excellent Mexican Food!!!!. My family and I have been eating at Carlota's for about 3 years and we love it. The food is always great and the service outstanding. We have tried lots of mexican food restaurants in the last 13 years here, and nothing compares. Needless to say, we aren't looking anymore. We eat there at least once a week. It is just like the Tex Mex I grew up on. The traditional tacos, both beef and chicken, are great, but I can't get enought of the chili rellenos.
Real Mexican Food!!.
Our visit was on 03/08, our family celebrated my grandmothers birthday. We had not tried Carlota's and were thinking of driving to the southside for some real mexican food. It was late and we decided to give the place a try, other people had mentioned to me that it was pretty good and the service was excellent. I am so glad we did try it, we loved it. It was a saturday and they had mariachi they place was very inviting and the atmosphere was wonderfull. The salsa was GREAT and I had the chicken fajitas, boy were they yummy, probably the best I've tasted. My wife had the chiles rellenos, I had to make sure my grandma was still sitting there cause I could have sworn she made them......very authentic. My grandma had the breaded shrimp, which were very lightly breaded and tasty she said.
Catalina needed a good mexican restaurant.........we now have it. Prices are decent, and they also have a lunch special everyday for those who don't want to order off the menu.
Mexican food could have come from Sweden.
Very clean and interesting place. Stopped for lunch and shared the place with 3 others for 1 1/2 hours during the week. That was my first clue. Prices were high, $8-13 for lunch. The chips might have come from costco about a week ago and left in the back on the floor...stale stale. Good salsa though. Ordered tostadas and enchiladas with the required beans and rice.
I think Carlota is probably a nice person, but her food is flavorless. The tostada was dry ground beef covered in some beans and lettuce. Old tasteless tomatoes and a tiny dab of cheese brought some color. The enchilada was small, doughy and could have come from Chef-Boy-R-D. The beans and rice had lttle flavor and the entire 2 dishes barely filled the small plates. For a community that would support good mexican food, this is not a place to start.
