Consistantly GREAT!.
As a frequent diner, I can depend on El Charro for a great experience. The food always looks tasty and tastes fresh! The service is always quite friendly!

Great food, horrible service.
The food is excellent, but that's about the only nice thing I have to say about this place. I was in Tucson on business and was told by numerous locals to try El Charro so I went to the one on Speedway (closest to the hotel). First off, the hostesses gave me attitude when I asked for a table for one, and then made me wait nearly five minutes for a table despite the fact that the place was nearly empty. When I finally got seated, I told the waitress that I was visiting and asked what she recommended and she said the cheese crisp was popular for an appetizer, and anything with the carne seca was good. Well, the cheese crisp thing was huge, the size of a large pizza, which is great if there are a lot of you, but not if there's just one! She really shouldn't have recommended this for a party of one. I also got the carne seca chimi "enchilada style", which was delicious, but took forever to get. Being only one of three tables in the whole place, both of which were getting good service by their waiter, I was more than a little ticked off that my waitress barely gave me the time of day. I never got chips and salsa despite asking numerous times, my water was never refilled despite my food being spicy. I literally sat there for nearly twenty minutes after I was finished, waiting for my bill and finally had to hunt down one of the hostess to fetch my waitress for me.
All in all, the food really is delicious, and I would probably go back just for this. I'll just make sure i don't get the same waitress.
