Tips for Rubs Massage Studio

GO elswhere if you want your $'s worth. I visited the Rubs location off of Houghton solely because I was given a gift certificate for a message there. I was apprehensive about going back to another Rubs after having tried it twice, (at two other locations), and having mediocre massages. I am someone who has visited various businesses/schools that provide massage around town, so I know a good massage when I get one. I was just as disappointed this time as I have always been. The individual at Rubs did the whole massage with very light pressure , (although I asked that medium to deep pressure be used), the individual was also lacked ANY 'following through' with the muscle structures in my back and this individual talked practically the whole time...about themselves....NOTHING related to my message! I wish the person who bought the certificate would have known about Cortiva Institute. The individual who provided me the massage was an Apollo graduate and as stated by another individual previous to my review, I highly recommend using students who either graduated from Cortiva or better yet, just go get a student massage at Cortiva which is not only less expensive but better then ANY Rubs massage I've yet to receive...I guess I shouldn't say 'YET' as I don't plan on going back to Rubs ever again! Perhaps I need to hint at this to my loved ones so next time I don't feel as if I am wasting their money on a massage!

Great for on-the-go, last minute bookings. I've been a member for years. When I find a Rubs therapist who really knows what they're doing I stick with them until they move on. Then the fishing expedition starts all over again: you have to take a number of mediocre massages--and even a terrible one here and there--before you find someone new to work with who is really skilled.

When booking it helps to ask where they went to school. Cortiva/Desert Institute grads get a great education and are usually highly skilled and sensitive. OTOH every massage I've ever received from an Apollo college grad has been sub par.

Susan K and Jessica C are top-notch. Christine (Oracle rd) is very good as well. The staff at Wilmot and Oracle are all friendly, courteous, appropriate. The atmosphere is safe and relaxing. Recommended.

Huge fan!!!. I have visited Rubs several times. If you are an athlete or love deep pressure, Donald is amazing! I haven't been to him for a relaxation massage, so can't comment on that experience. I ran a marathon a few months ago. During training, I called to schedule an appt and was introduced to him. I made follow-up appts throughout training and after the marathon. I continue to visit him. He can identify muscle knots I don't even know I have. He works them out completely. I highly recommend him!!!

Great place!. I have been going to Rubs Massage Studio for 6 months now, and I love it! I go 1 to 2 times a month and I've had a very good experience every single time. The staff is professional and courteous, and I've always felt so much better when I leave.

For the person who had a negative comment, I think you need to just get a different massage therapist, because your experience must have been that particular person.

Two of my friends have already gone there also, upon my recommendation, and they were very happy with their time spent there. One of them has made it a regular thing for her, and the other is considering it also.

Not Recommended!!. I do not recommend this place!!. It is expensive for the neighborhood and they do not have a COMFORTABLE environment.

My experience was stressful rather than one of relaxation. Think of somewhere else before spending seventysomething dollars on a 1 hour massage!!

Editorial Review. Massage parlor creates a relaxing ambience coupled with a genuine passion for the art of massage.
