Marantz Receiver Repair – Hey: You guys repaired a Marantz amplifier for me. . .very good job! I believe it was Tom who asked me to enter a review on a web site, I tried but it would not recognize me because I do not have a Email address.
If you want to, with my complete approval, you can enter it. Here is my opinion:
"They fixed everything I requested at the price they quoted me. It was done promptly and professionally. They were very competent and courteous and smart. They are good guys doing good work (that's pretty much unheard of anymore), I would go back again to them. They provide a good service, a necessary one for audiophiles. On a scale of 1-10, I would say my experience was a 10. Thank you for a job done well!"

Thanks to the repair team at Stereo Hospital for working with me and convincing me not to discord my old stereo equipment. I held on to this old set down through the years, even though its been in disrepair for more than twenty-five years. The set was one of the earliest stereo sets made using 'surrond sound'. It was a good conversation piece, and held a treasure of sentimental value, even though it no longer played.
One day a friend of mine, seeing how much I love my stereo set, suggested I take it to the Stereo Hospital to see if something could be done to make my set work again.
As I placed my machine on the counter at the stereo repair shop, one of the repair persons (Sean, I think) remarked, "Wow! You don't see srts like this anymore."
I was certain that his next words were going to be, "We can't do anything with that. Its too old." But instead, Sean called Jeff, who in turn called tom, and after a brief discussion Sean was told to meke me out a repair ticket .
After agreeing on the financial arrangment I left the shop convinced I would receive a phone call later telling me that my stereo set was un-repairable. Two weeks later Tom Higgins called me stating that my set was repaired, and that I could come pick it up. I could hardly believe my ears.
I paid the nominal repair fee and brought my set home, filled my 12-track CD player with CDs and sat back and enjoyed a stereo set that hadn't played for over twenty-five years. I found that everything on my stereo set worked like new. Now I can enjoy the sounds from back in days when music was really music and not a bunch of noise.
I have had several other electronic sound items repaired at the Stereo Hospital with equally satisfing results. Thanks you Jeff Brucker, Tom Higgins, and Sean.... you guys are great.

Crystal Clear Transaction – I was so pleased with my transaction with these guys. I bought an old Magnavox Hi Fi built in 1960, it worked but not very well, lots of distortion, vibrations and weak signal. I had little hope of it working as well as my Dad's did when I grew up in the 60's.
Well these guys got it and made it sing! The knowledge of the unit and what it would need....they knew. I got it back days before I thought I would at a price below the estimate. BUT not only did they fix it but they enjoyed what it was and transfered that enthusiasm to me.
In the couple of months that we have had it we no longer watch TV in the evening, instead we enjoy the crystal clear vocal stylings of Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett with our cocktail.

Smooth Sailing..No Problems – We are constantly getting phone calls about where to take audio equipment for repair since C.A.T.S went away several years ago. We have sent many customers to the Stereo Hospital with absolutely no complaints. I believe they will even work on turntables. If your equipment is in need of repair give them a try. Here at Wilson Audio we believe in supporting local business.
As the technician working at Stereo Hospital who is mainly responsible for this misunderstanding, I hereby publicly apologize to this customer. We have tried to contact him in vain through email and phone with no response. We regret that he has chosen to openly accuse us of lies and deceit which we categorically deny.
At no time have we represented our services to include cosmetic restoration or surface cleaning. Our use of the word "clean" refers to chemical de-oxidation of contacts, switches, controls and connections points. There is no disputing that the specific audio problem this customer complained about was fixed for what any rational person would agree is a reasonable price. We do take exception to accusations of lying, deception, talking "funny" or being evasive. If we explained item by item to every customer who asked exactly how we repair complex electronic circuits, we would get no work done.
Here is part of the private reply we sent this customer several days ago to which he has not replied. We hope the readers of city search Tucson will see that we are acting in good faith.
We do apologize for returning your receiver to you without a proper cleaning of the inside surfaces. We are in process of training a new technician who failed to understand the policy of our shop, and we take full responsibility for that.
We generally caution customers that "detailing" as done to a car for example has never been part of our focus which is to restore nominal technical functionality. Had we known you had this expectation, we would have made a note of it and acted accordingly.
To show our good faith, we offer you the option of: A) returning your receiver to us for that detailed cleaning, or B ) a refund of the incremental amount associated with our general service. Thank you. Signed, Thomas Higgins
Watch out... not trust worthy... – It's hard to find someone to work on a 30 year old stereo receiver. I brought mine to Stereo Hospital to get checked out and repaired if necessary. They charged me $40 to look at it and would give me an estimate for any repairs. They called me a week later and said that it would be $140 to repair including the $40 I already gave them. They said that it had oxidation and was really dirty and just needed to be cleaned. They said it would be done in a day. I picked it up and they were unable to give me any details as to what specifically they did to it. I got it home and the interior of the receiver was completely covered with dust. There was a finger print on a panel so I know they at least looked in there. For $140 it should have been completely dust free as we all know dust is not electronics friend. My guess is they plugged it in, it worked and they billed me for nothing. They acted funny and evasive when questioned. After 30+ years in business myself I can tell when I'm being lied to. Don't trust this provider.
