Hifalutin.
This place has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I suggest going when they are having one of their weekly specials. It gets busy and loud sometimes since it is a smaller restaurant. if you have any complaints bring it up and management should take care of the problem. Tasty food but the prices have gone up and portions have gone down. But what restaurant isn't going through troubles with this economy.
the Baggins/Hifalutin family are good people.
A NEW FAVORITE.
My husband and I love eating out. Trying to find new places to eat can be challenging considering how much we eat out. We stumbled upon a coupon in the Savvy Shopper for Hifalutin.
We came on a Wednesday night, to our surprise it was all you can eat ribs. My husband was thrilled! Our server explained that they had added some new wonderful entrees to the menu. She recommended a few but I decided on the Pan crusted chicken. My husband did the all you can eat ribs. The chicken was fork tender and so flavorful but the RIBS won our heart. They are nothing like any other rib we have had before. Not a BBQ sauce drench rib but more like a sticky sweet, fall off the bone........DELICIOUSNESS. We completed dinner with a perfect slice of chocolate cake. Not to big not to small. We are excited to go back and bring friends.
P.S. The corn muffins are addicting. I had to take some with me.
Used to be wonderful, but TERRIBLE now!.
Well, after "trying it one more time" three times (because I really used to like this place), I am calling it quits on Hifalutin. And, my last visit was so poor, I felt I had to write something.
The last few times I have gone here, I ordered one of the entree salads, which used to be so good. But both my wife and I have noticed that they have become smaller and smaller in size -- not enough to call an entree really.
This last time, I again ordered an entree salad -- the Flank Steak Salad, which is $9.99. My guest ordered a burger.
When my salad arrived, my guest and I actually started laughing. There was literally about one cup of greens -- mostly iceberg lettuce. On top, where the flank steak was supposed to be were six tiny pieces of meat, no larger than one half inch square each. All six actually fit on my ice tea spoon. (We could not resist measuring it).
So, we called our waitress over to make a comment. She walked directly to the manager and told him. He never came by, never said a word. It was absurd. To think that they actually charged me ten dollars for my teaspoon of meat and cup of lettuce is ridiculous. (I am not exaggerating here -- an actual teaspoon of meat!) My friends burger, as well, strained the definition of a burger. The patty had a full inch of bun overlapping it all around, it was so small. At $8.25, that too was ridiculous.
I mean, I realize that costs are up, but this kind of cheapskating is so unfair to the customer.
The amazing thing is that as I shared my story with co-workers (I work for a large employer of about 2,500 employees) in the days that followed, several people told me they had similar experiences.
How this place remains open I do not know. I'm done giving the place another chance. What a rip off.
