Tips for Bazil's It's Italian

I agree with Tashal's review below. The only thing I liked was the ambience and that was compromised by sitting in the closed booth to the kitchen so there was a little too much activity nearby. The hostess was great, seating us away from a loud party, but the rest of the staff was young and obsequious in a mildly annoying way. The salad was the sort of thing of you'd get at Olive Garden, the soup was OK although I suspect this was because the weather had turned cold and any soup would have tasted good. The bread was (1) not warm (2) insubstantial (3) tasteless and (4) served with cold pats of butter which could not be spread. My entree, shrimp scampi, was half-good - the shrimp were excellent. The pasta was nothing special and the sauce tasted good but the consistency was somehow off. I seem to recall shrimp scampi has some garlic component but that was missing. This the third time I've been here over 10 years and I think it's because I keep forgetting about how mediocre the food is. If the prices were more reasonable, it wouldn't be such a problem. I had an urge to scamper away when I saw the menu and thought, "oh Guiseppe's is such a better bargain." And better food. Too bad, the folks really seemed to be trying but I'm not going back.

Horrible experience. How does this place stay in business?/ I took my fiancee there last week for dinner, The ambience was great. The experience started with me ordering a Grey Goose and tonic and the tonic came flat. After I sent the drink back the bartender felt the need to come over and tell me "not to expect the same amount of fizz in a bar drink as I would get at home from a bottle." She continued to go on trying to justify it. I should have known to leave right then, but no....we ordered. The bread was so-so, with rock hard pats of butter. The pasta fagioli soup was gross. The celery was not cooked, and there wasn't much else in there but a few bites of pasta. yuck. I couldn't eat it at all. The antipasto was so-so as well. After waiting 20 minutes, we asked the busboy where our food was. The waiter then felt the need to come back and tell us that "this is a three course meal and the entree would be out after the salads were picked up" (so pick up the salada plates, moron!) After 43 minutes we got our entrees. interestingly enough, the server then apologized for the wait. He said he had worked there eight years and they always took too long (hmmm?) We had the chicken fettuchini. The pasta and sauce was tasty, but it was ruined because the little chunks of chicken had been overcooked and were just plain hard. I was so disgusted with this place I couldn't believe it. I live just around the corner and had high hopes of making it my "go to" restaurant. Now, I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. DO NOT BOTHER wasting your well earned money. The best you can expect is lectures from the staff and a crappy, low-end italian meal.

Best Everything. This place has the best of everything that you could want in Italian food. The service is very propmed to your needs as-well.
