BEST RIBS IN THE WORLD!!. I lived in Tucson all my life and moved away 1 year ago. All I can think about is going back to Lil Abner's and eating their beef ribs!!!!!!! The meat just falls off the bones and is fork tender. Everytime I went it was always busy but service was terrific. My husband loves the cowboy steak. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who lives there and is visitng. It has great atmosphere!!! Nothing I have ever had tastes like those steaks and ribs over a mesquite BBQ. I wish we had a place in the Portland, OR area like it.

Off the beaten path, and proud of it.. Great food, live old world country western band which is great for the kids. If you want to find something thats off the beaten path, then this is it. The steak was great, so were the side dishes. Lil Abner's is the kinda place you could picture your grandparents going to every saturday night when they were your age.

Best steak and ribs you can get anywhere,. Went to Abners, and had a T-bone, and a half rib/half pork appetizer. The T-bone was the best steak I have ever had. The grill was outside, and they actually used real mesquite wood to cook their steaks. I havent seen this in any resteraunt. The steak was tender, and cooked to perfection, and not at all tough. The ribs were great too, the pork were outstanding, and when I say the ribs actually fall off the bone I mean it. The pork ribs are my favorite, and the beef are great as well just a lil fatty which is to be expected from beef ribs, and the bbq sauce was great. Well if you ever heard the saying," You get what you pay for" this place is it. It maybe a lil expensive but its to be expected when you get a steak actually cooked on real mesquite wood outdoors.

Eat like a ranch hand and enjoy it. This cowboy cookery is all about meat and potatoes.. The Scene
For years, neither the menu nor the weekend entertainment has changed. Dean Armstrong and his western band sing songs fit for a cowboy soundtrack two nights a week. Don't expect to find any kitschy memorabilia. The only decorations are old license plates and scrawled initials on every carvable surface. Though there's been loads of development around Abner's, the drive along Silverbell provides enough desert landscape to be dubbed scenic.

The Food
The outdoor mesquite grill entices folks to forsake the dining rooms for the patio picnic tables. Chicken, ribs and steak, served in large (16-ounce) and huge (32-ounce) portions, cook over the grill's flames, sending savory aromas into the air. Ranch beans with a hint of brown sugar sweetness and a baked potato are your only side options, though a salad comes with every dinner.

The reviews are telling it right.... Just came from Lil Abners tonight, and have the following thoughts. The chicken I ordered was actually really good, nice combo between moist and dry. My fiance got beef ribs that were very greasy - I guess the difference between ribs on a grill vs. being smoked. Waitress got slower as the night wore on - perhaps she had too many people? All in with two beers was $48 (not including tip) - a little higher than we thought.

User review by jcburba. Our last for visits have featured high prices lousy service and bad food from under cooked chicken tough stakes and burnt beef ribs. Place is living on past reputation

Lil' Abners Satisfies. After two trips to Lil' Abners, including prompt seating, quality service, and AWESOME ribs I highly recommend Lil' Abners for your next dinner out. It's best to get there before the average dinner time so that you can be seated quickly. The Jack Daniels Ribs are the best. It's on the more expensive side. But that hasn't kept us from eating there twice. Give Lil' Abners a try.

GOT FAT!!!!. I've ate at alot of steak houses. We went to try this restaraunt and I order a steak, and ribs. The service was ok, When our ordered came out my steak wasn't cooked right and my ribs had a lot of fat on them. When I told the waitress it seemed as it was a big deal the steak was taken back to be cooked over again. I didn't eat anything but my salad. I sent everything back and never was offered another meal, or for it to be taken off my bill.

Over rated and $$$$. I first visited this restaurant thirty years ago when it was in the middle of the desert. I went back several times over the years and found the quality of the steak to be sliding and the prices sky rocketing! The atmosphere is great, but not edible.
