What People Are Saying About Lil Abner's Steak House

The Scene – For years, neither the menu nor the weekend entertainment has changed. Dean Armstrong and his western band sing songs fit for a cowboy soundtrack two nights a week. Don't expect to find any kitschy memorabilia. The only decorations are old license plates and scrawled initials on every carvable surface. Though there's been loads of development around Abner's, the drive along Silverbell provides enough desert landscape to be dubbed scenic. – – The Food – The outdoor mesquite grill entices folks to forsake the dining rooms for the patio picnic tables.…
old owners, great menu board, great steaks gone for good

I was also one of the many thousands of people eating at Lil Abners each week for years. It was great and had a big board for a menu. But tried it in 2009 and someone had purchased it and had no written menu and only the one in a waiters head. The steaks were over priced and very poor. Stay with all the great steak resturants in Tucson. Too bad this use to be my number 1 place to eat.
Great Food, Iffy Service and Ambience

Went with a fun group of 7 for dinner. First impression...what a dive!!! Took forever for the waitress to come over. She was kinda bored and cranky. Did not like the verbal menu due to the lack of prices. But then the food came out, and it was fantastic. The rib meat fell off the bone. My steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Pintos, potatoes, and Texas toast were a nice addition. No one was quite sure what to do with the pico de gallo.
The music was a hoot...reminded me of Mom & Pop Nelson's (Willie Nelson's parents) band at the ubiquitious chili cookoffs in Texas. Yee haw!
- Pros: Best Ribs Ever
- Cons: Service, Atmosphere, Price
Bad service and dirty bathrooms
by Curly2001 at Citysearch
This is a sad attempt at the past. The wait staff needs help and the food has gone downhill. The womens bathroom was very dirty. For the money it cost to eat there the service should be prompt with a smile. Instead we got a wave with I'll get to you and loads of excuses as why it takes sooooo long. They need menus there not just a verbal "this is what we got". Then more apologies. The steaks are thin, the ribs are burnt, and the bussers want to take your plates before you are finished. Never again. Go up the street to the Road House even if it is a chain, its alot better.
- Pros: You can leave at free will
- Cons: Thin steaks, burnt ribs, bad service
FUIMOS ESTAFADOS

- Cons: WC SUPER SUCIOS, CARO, SERVICIO LENTO, MUY DESCUIDADO
Way overpriced!!!

The inside of the place is so dark it is miracle I was able to see at all! MENUS ARE NOT AVAILABLE* PRICING IS NOT VISIBLE! And for a decent meal for a party of two, you will not leave without spending $100! Not worth it! THROUGH THESE DIFFICULT TIMES* FINANCIALLY THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO!!
