A 2nd and 3rd Chance!!!!.
About 5 months after first rating Thunder Canyon, I found myself on La Cholla again and decided to see if anyhting changed.
About 2:30 on1/17/08, not too busy, sat at the bar and waited, and waited, and waited some more.
I asked the guy next to me if anyone was working the bar and he said :She;s around here somewhere."
I left.
1/18/08 at a little before 3. I'm back. Service with a smile from Jessica! Couldn't be better and the bar was busy. Started with 2 pints of their Wheat beer. It was like yellow Perrier. The only taste was of the orange I twisted into it!
I then has 2 pints of their IPA! What a HOME RUN!!!! Very hoppy but not bitter, no after taste, crsip; and the lace left on the inside of the glass indicated a very solid brew!
Maybe if I get back in 5 more months, everything will have come together!
Awesome patio.
It's so hard to understand why a city with such beautiful weather and scenery doesn't have more restaurants that offer outside seating. Thunder Canyon Brewery has an excelent patio with a view of the Catalina Mountains. If the heat is an issue, they have a water cooler that keeps it very comfortable.
The Catalina Pale Ale is a first rate microbrew but the IPA was lacking in my opinion. The food is good and there are more pricing incentives on beer and food than any tavern in Tucson.
My only complaint is that the service is a little slow. Order your second beer well before you finish your first or you might get a little thirsty.
We're here at least once a week. I'm the guy with the good looking wife sitting at the edge of the patio. Say hello.
good friends and a fine brew. TCB is a great place to meet a group of friends after work for a cold beer an appetizer.
I'll keep looking.
I am a transplant from Ann Arbor, where you can find some really great brewpubs with both awesome food and beer. I'm still searching in Tucson, as this was definitely not it.
The menu was dull, along the lines of an inferior theme restaurant like Friday's or Chili's, and the food poorly prepared. The beer was pedestrian.
The service was just awful, with our appetizers and entrees brought out within minutes of each other. You might die of thirst waiting on a refill or another drink.
The ambiance was nothing special.
Nominal Food and Not Very Good Beer. A person could do better than this place in Tucson if they enjoy Microbrew beers. Thunder Canyon is not the best and is not the worst Microbrew in Tucson but some of their beers need work. The food was Average and their service needs considerable help. They have ample parking though. One could do better if you enjoy really good Microbrews.
