Great friendly place. I walked in at 8:30 and was out by 9:00 with a great cut, from what these guys were telling me there are moving to a new location and updateing the equipment and facilities. price was a little on the higher side at 15 dollars, but well worth it. I will definatly make these guys my regular barber shop.

Great Experience!. Not too long ago I was visiting a friend of my in the Old Pueblo when I found myself in need of a trim. Well, more than a trim actually as it had been a couple of years since my last commercial barber experience (I tend to snip my own with a good Wahl).

Anyhow, I asked my friend where the nearest "decent" barber was as I shy away from the corporate places that are out there opting for something more mom and pop. He suggested that I check out the place up the street from his house where he always goes, First Avenue Barbers.

I hadn't made an appointment but I seem to have arrived there at the perfect time as there was only maybe one other person waiting when I walked in. There were maybe five or six barbers there at the time and one finished with a customer as I walked in so the guy that had been waiting went up and got started. After maybe 3 or four more minutes, two more chairs opened up and the shop was starting to fill up with customers. One of the cutters Steven, invited to his chair and made some general small talk and asked me what I was looking for in a cut. I tend to go for a neat, short military style and so described something not quite as radical as a high and tight but close with a little more volume on the sides and back and squared off. He chatted me up some while I was in the chair (not excessively) and made me feel quite comfortable with the whole experience. I was in the chair for at most 20 to 25 minutes which included a trim of all the usual stray hair and a shave of my neck with warm foam and easy on the pocket.

I highly recommend the store for the cutting accuracy (Steven gave me exactly what I asked for), the ambiance (Clean and well lit and the other barbers were also quite friendly) and the price and have recommended to other friends of mine who live in or are visiting the area.

I say if you need a good cut in Tucson, check em out, ya won't go wrong!
