Editorial Review for The Frog & Firkin – by Timothy Gassen
The Scene
This little pub has managed to carve its own niche in the undistinguished University of Arizona market. The converted house has seen countless bars come and go, but it seems to have found stability in this Brit-inspired pub. The atmosphere is relaxed, as the college crowd mixes with older folk. It's much more easygoing than other UA area bars.
The Booze
The Firkin's beer selection is impressive and includes British favorites Caffery's, Fullers and John Courage on tap. Service is friendly and uniformly excellent.
While You're There
The food is surprisingly tasty and the pizza is some of Tucson's best. Local bands often grace the outdoor patio area, playing everything from ska to Irish music, but always with a twist. A nominal cover charge of a few bucks gets you in on band nights.

I just had one of the most horrible encounters here at frog and firkin. I was celebrating my birthday with 7 friends and when we were done eating we had to split the check. THEY REFUSE TO DO SEPARATE CHECKS so we had to calculate the individual amounts ourselves, which took us a while. The bartender (supposed manager) began yelling directly at me because we took so long. He embarrassed me and condescendingly asked me if I knew my multiplication tables. RUDEST EMPLOYEE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. He also mistreated and demeaned my friend. DO NOT EAT THERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED RESPECTFULLY.

I have been there twice and last time was worse than the first I will definately not return. First our ditzy watiress disappeared, so after a half an hour I went to the bar to order a drink, the bartender responded that I had to order from the waitress, I said that I did about 30 minutes ago, to that he responded that if I didn't like it to go someplace else. Unbelievable! So I left and went next door to No Anchovies where the service was good and so were the prices. The only reason that Frog is even open is because of its location the staff is horrible.

Cons: Service Price
