Poor choice for upscale prices.
I have eaten at Sullivans twice, a year apart. The service is earnest but inept. The food is marginal, or given the prices, poor. As examples - salads at about $7 each came as follows: wedge - about 1/8 of a small head of lettuce; spinach with warm dressing - cold and gooey dressing; caesar - no romaine, dressing out of a generic jar.
Sides - potatoes not served with two requests, told server to skip them. They came, cold just as I finished the rest of the meal.
Good Time. Although the food was decent, if a bit overpriced, the service was the best I've ever had -- which says a lot considering this is a chain. I was thoroughly impressed with our waiter and would come again -- just for him.
not that great. For what you pay, you get a pretty tough and flavorless piece of meat that you'd send back at better restaurants. I've eaten there three times and had to send my steak back twice. Definitely not prime, like you'll get at Ruth's Chris. Plus, they jam the tables so close together, it's not a pleasant experience. Still, service is superb.
Simply The Best. Sullivan's is simply the best steakhouse I've been to and that includes Morton's and Ruth Chris's. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable without being pushy. Their wine list can fit any budget and the steaks were prepared to perfection. I never thought I'd say that I actually loved a serving of creamed corn, but the dish at Sullivan's was great, as were the horseradish mashed potatoes.
Ms. Nothing "stuffy" about the place at all despite it's decor. Very comfortable and relaxing with great ambience and atmosphere. Everybody was very helpful and friendly. Almost too many "specials" to be explained by the waitress and decisions to be made. We'll go back again.
Heavenly steaks!. Tied for best steak in town (with McMahon's). LOVE the ambiance; it's a 1920's, jazz-playing, mafia-looking restaurant. Trust me, that's a good thing! Wonderful wine selection, from inexpensive to Oh-my-goodness expensive. Melt-in-your-mouth steaks. Valet-parking. Great bar for after work. That's the short and sweet of Sullivan's.
Worth Every Dollar. Sullivan's is definetly worth the drive from Phoenix. The atmosphere is great and fits any occassion. The calamari was perfect and not chewy. The filet mignon melts and the Stoli was served chilled just as mother nature intended.
simple elegance!. Finally a Steak House in Tucson that lives up to the name! The taste of their steaks(rib eye is my favorite) will remain long after the price is forgotten! In addition to their savory preparation of food, the lounge presents great jazz!
GREAT. This is a great place to have a good meal, great glass of wine and relax after a busy week
Go Back in Time. Sullivans is clearly the best steak house in Tucson, although pricey, the cuisine is 5 star. The wine list is extensive, but house drinks can be easily substituted without losing the ambiance. The service is the best in Tucson. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is willing to open up their pocket book for a special occasion.
