Probably not goin back after I turn 21

by Brad UofA at Citysearch

I dropped too much cash. I took out a girl over age and I am only 20. We had no problem but I did not have beer. I had mixed drinks. Once the first old guy got off stage the other comics were not bad.

  • Pros: Easy to drink underage
  • Cons: Expensive

ORIGINAL OWNER RECLAIMS CLUB & REMODELS

by mirzo at Citysearch

I've been going to Laffs for years. Under the past owner, it had become run-down, dirty and things were broken. The show room was a lot like a frat house. The original owners, Mr. & Mrs Gary Bynum, reclaimed it June 2008.

Immediately they remodeled it. I read in the paper they put about 80K in it the first 2 months. It's probably been more like 100K now.

The bathrooms were gutted, and now they shine with new equipment- no more plastic bags over the broken urinal!

The showroom has been painted maroon and grey, new stage (but the familiar brick wall is still up! The bar has been shined up, extended, too. It's all wood and granite, or stone or something. All new table and chairs.

There are beautiful colorful paintings hung in the bar, no more plastic monkeys hanging from the rafters.

The staff are friendly and the service has improved. So has the food. I love the fajitas, and the chicken quesadilla.

They have pro shows only 2 nites a week now. But open mic is Thursday at 8. We go because it's free entry, and they have a lot more comix than before. it's kinda weird, but it's something to do on a boring thursday.

I'm a big fan of live comedy and I'm blown away that this club has come back to be a nice place to go out on a date night. I can even wear make-up and be dressy without sticking out like a sore thumb!! Or, if i'm spontaneous, I can be in jeans and be comfortable too.

I think their pro show are 2 night s a week now. Fri pro shows 8 & 10:30, Sat 7 & 9:30.

If you know the long-time bartender, Johnny Dingo, he's still there! The rest of the staff is new. I truly dig it, and i'm so glad we've got a classed up place to go laugh at. Tucson needed it. Peace, out! Mirzo

  • Pros: it's become a classy place. dress up, or come casual
  • Cons: not enough advance notice of upcoming shows
