What People Are Saying About Old Peking

The Scene: – Chinese-Americans first settled in Tucson about 125 years ago and have flourished here in the desert ever since. Despite this thriving community, however, the city has suffered a shortage of truly outstanding Chinese restaurants; Old Peking is an exception, with good food served in a clean, neutral-toned environment. Peking duck, eggplant in garlic sauce, spicy General Tso's chicken, and other favorite specialties are beautifully prepared; vegetarians can choose from a broad array of fleshless dishes including noodles, bean curd, vegetables, and vegetarian spring rolls.…
Old Peking one of the best

Old Peking has the most unusual Hot and Sour Soup of any restaurant in Tucson. Not sure what the flavor is, but it is sweet and astringent.
Their dishes are delicate and quite good. The chicken with asparagus and black beans is wonderful!
One of the three best Chinese restaurants in all of Tucson!

I visited that resturant this Jun and enjoyed a very good chinese food almost everyday there. the boss is a warm-hearted boy! He helped us and I hope he can have a nice life in US.
I really miss the food and the kind man.

Mostly inedible

Tonight, my wife brought home takeout from this place. The Mongolian Beef was inedible. The other dishes were barely edible. My wife had forgotten our experience there a couple of years ago. Then, we picked at each of several dishes, paid and politely carried the food home where it went right into the garbage. The menu tonight boldly announced it is under new management. Management isn't the problem, the cook is.
Okay, but don't get your hopes up

The General Tso's Chicken was good, but forgetable. However, the chicken egg foo young was more like scrambled eggs with vegetables and brown cafeteria gravy. Perhaps I was eating on an "off day" for the chef because this was mediocre at best. It would probably be good in a pinch, but don't expect much.
- Pros: good parking
- Cons: food not up to par
