I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a restaurant.
I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a restaurant's wait staff and manager.
My business partner and I hold a weekly lunch meeting at different Tucson restaurants. We had brunch at Robert's today. We arrived at 11:00, ordered coffees, ordered meals, etc. At 12:15, our server informed us she could "no longer allow us to stay", because she had people waiting. We were shocked, and asked to speak with a manager. The manager refused to speak with us in person. Instead, the waitress returned, said she had the "right" to ask us to leave, and said she was sorry for hurting our feeelings?!
Obviously, the staff at Robert's has no appreciation for our business, and we will never return to this restaurant.
Great food!. I've been eating at this restaraunt for years. The food is always good especially for the price. The servers are always nice and they never leave your cup of coffee empty. Highly recomended!
Authentic Food, Sincere Service. If you sometimes need midwestern truck stop/diner comfort food, you'll find it here. And it was all made right here. The bread and pies are baked here. The pork roast special was roasted here. Even the corn beef hash special was hashed out right here. And you know what that can taste like when someone dishes it up out of a can that was opened last week.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED BY BOYD, THE OWNER. My son and I ate at Roberts restaurant on 09/19/2007 and had a very bad experience. We got there around 1:30 PM and ordered a tuna fish sandwich special with soup and a drink included in the price. I received my meal at around 1:50 PM. I forgot about not getting the soup and the waitress Peggy forgot to bring me the soup. I finally remembered at around 2:10 PM and was told it is too late to get the soup because the kitchen is already closed. The fact that I paid for the soup did not seem to matter, as the waitress Peggy would not give me the soup. The next day I called Boyd, the owner, who looked into the matter. He called me back right away and basically said I reminded the waitress too late after 2PM and that I was not entitled to the soup because the kitchen had already closed. Horrible customer service, especially from the owner himself. Roberts has lost 2 very good customers and we will spread the word.
Robert's has something for everyone. All the breakfast options you could want and really great mexican breakfasts too. The breakfast burritos and chorizo was great. The coffee was good too which is not often the case with hole in the wall places. super crowded on the weekends but great place to take somebody on a fun yummy inexpensive breakfast date.
You can fill your tummy without emptying your wallet at this small-town friendly cafe..
The Scene
If the large parking lot is full, prepare to wait for an immaculate booth or one of a dozen stools at the counter. There's a large law enforcement clientele here: Owner Robert Barkey's an ex-officer and the cops stay loyal. This place is so informal, there isn't even a waiting list. When a table empties, a waitress comes around and asks who is next. Once you're seated, service is brisk.
The Food
Breakfast includes egg and meat combos, but regulars wait for the corned beef hash and egg special. Thick slices of homemade, toasted bread grace the breakfast platters. The big chunks of homefries show a little skin and are light on the oil. The homemade cinnamon roll is buttery, sticky and plate-sized. The noon meal, called dinner, runs the gamut from chicken-fried chicken to liver sausage and tomato sandwiches. But be sure to save room for a piece of the homemade pie.
roberts rules.
What more can you ask for, good food, good waitstaff, good prices,. Your not aying for big budget glitze here no corprate slazoo. just good food.
Because it's not advertised a lot(why do it when it's not needed, customers come from a loyal crowd and word of mouth. once you've been your gonna come back. Because of this it's rated way too low. b
But for us its a good thing, more room for us.
Closed too often!. Your basic greasy spoon, but clean, without the grease. They do what they do so well! Yummy sticky buns and chaos and eggs and bacon and homemade toast. The coffee keeps coming. And the waitresses are nice! They could easily have a 24hr business, but instead they close after lunch and are no where to be seen on Sundays. They take time to be closed--maybe that's why it is so human in there.
