Appears closed. Good ice cream and always had steady customers. No way to get in touch. It is just closed and there are really no generous old fashion ice cream parlors. A city this big- that is a shame

Austin's is the best!. Austins has great family atmosphere, good food, great ice cream and all around good feel to it. My family has been going to Austins for as long as I remember. Its a super yummy tradition. If you are looking for a comfy, yummy, family friendly place to eat out, we highly recommend it. And the price cant be beat.

Ridiculously Priced. This place is extremely disappointing. Austin's is a diner and yet, my meal there for a burger, fries and a shake was $15.00! Why? The burger was only okay, there was a $1.75 upcharge for french fries instead of chips and they gave me 10...10 fries. The shakes are pretty good, but not for the price, or how long it takes to get them. I ordered all my food at once and was most of the way done with my meal before I even received my shake. This place is just awful. I will never go back. I can get a much better burger someplace else, and cheaper.

go somewhere else for better service. you seat yourself, and wait awhile for initial service, after you order you wait quite abit longer. Young servers who are inexperienced in customer service. Food average, anything you can make yourself in the comfort of your own home. I wouldnt go to Austin's unless you want to wait for some so so ice cream.

Not worth the trip. I had been a loyal customer of Austins since 1974. Even when I moved across the city I traveled to Austins for the food. However, since the move to East Broadway the service and the food has deteriorated. They used to have the best tuna fish available but sadly, no longer. And several times the potato salad had "turned" yet it was still being served. I doubt I will ever venture across town again just to visit Austins and I would be embarrassed to recommend eating there to anyone.

Best Dinner. Best Old Time 50's dinner . Not the decor but the food. Double burger feast two 1/3lb angus patties with a crisp tossed salad just like mom's table! Homemade ice cream to die for! There are not many places like this any more! This will be my favorate eating place .Love it!

Awful Ice Cream. Short Version--Awful Ice cream. // Longer version--This place is probably more popular for the gloppy concoctions it creates. If you bury the ice cream under mounds of sauces and whipped cream, you might not notice that the actual ice cream underneath tastes terrible. I went with a friend and we each ordered 2 scoops of ice cream, each getting two different flavors. I had "cheesecake" and "chocolate jalepeno". The chocolate tasted like weak cocoa with a dash of freezer burn while the cheesecake was completely unidentifiable. It was sweet but neither of us could say what it tasted like(I'm from NY and know what a cheesecake tastes like). No depth to any flavors. My friend's choices, Coconut and Chocolate walnut were better than my flavors but nothing to make me want to return.

The other annoying thing about the place is that it's geared to going in and sitting down. You can't stroll in, look in the windowed cases at the flavors and order something to walk out with. If you want a cone to go, you order at the cash register, someone goes in the back and gets it and returns. Maybe that is so you can't see them chipping the frost off of the top of the bucket.

Avoid period!. I was a customer for years until recently before they relocted. The palce was filthy and the service was terrible. They have not recieved good reviews from the local papers.

Ice cream concoctions piled high over the dish rim keep people coming to this Tucson tradition.. In Short
Worn and reupholstered booths, efficient servers and low prices make a trip here a time warp to the '50s. The freshly whipped cream billows under a cherry while homemade ice cream oozes over the glass. The ice cream recipes are Austin family originals dating back to the '20s. More than 30 choices are churned out every day, including peach, a seasonal favorite and ginger. Half-gallons, pints and quarts are available for take-home goodness. Food choices include generous sandwiches served with potato chips or rabbit food--celery or carrot sticks--on the side.
