Editorial Review for Nimbus Brewing Company – by Timothy Gassen

The Scene
Named for the founder, not the clouds, this faceless warehouse is a palace of housing brewing machines, a makeshift bar, and enough rummage-sale furniture to seat several dozen patrons. You'll find signature brews, including an Oatmeal Stout and Palo Verde Pale Ale, an eclectic range of live music from punk to bluegrass and a full menu or burgers, chicken and other American fare.

I lived in Tucson for 5 years, and never made it over to Nimbus, which I regretted. I now have lived in Portland for 4 years in the land of microbrews and brewpubs, so while on vacation in Tucson I decided to finally give Nimbus a shot. I went with 3 of my friends (who live in Tucson) and we were all disappointed with our food. All dishes were very bland. I ordered a Boca burger (which I eat weekly) and when it arrived it looked pretty unappealing, so I asked the server if it was a real Boca burger and he said it was. I didn't believe him, and after a bite I really didn't. I don't know how the previous reviewer could claim it was "the best bar food" he's had. As far as the beer, the bartender's description didn't match the taste at all. I tried my friends' beer, and it was very good. The bartender was very flighty while taking our order. Overall, not the best experience. I'm glad I have much better breweries to visit here in Portland.

Pros: With the large freight doors open, you can see the Catalinas and catch the warm breeze; $30 for 4 people

Cons: Very bland food, uninterested server

Been here on several occasions. The most recent will be our last. 2 confimed cases of dysentery in our group was enough to insure that. Notified management...no response. No further visits from us. Choose another spot for a burger and beer unless you really are looking to call in sick on Monday
