Love this Place.
The infused liquors here are amazing. I have never had a better cosmopolitan. They run a daily beer and cocktail special and the bartenders are always friendly. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Great live music.
This is the place to go for great music. They have the best bands almost every weekend. The drinks are reasonably priced and the service isn't bad.

The Best Bar Tucson Has To Offer.
I was very impressed with this bar. Very cool and laid back. The lighting is awesome with lava lamps and other cool 60's lamps. Drinks are tasty and a bargain. The music is alternative/rock and isn't so loud you can't enjoy the company you are with. Just a great place to hang out with your buddies.

Fun for ALL.
I am not a regular at any bar, I still feel a comforting"Cheers"quality here. I have always felt welcome. I feel unfortable in most bars but there is always a conversation starter here- just look at the walls!! A great place to spend any evening out w/ friends or even alone!

Another Marital Story.
Like the other reviewer, I met my wife at this bar, on a weeknight when it's purportedly 'slow'. This place is one of the few in Tucson that combines swankiness with a laid-back atmosphere, avoids the college crowd, and has consistently good service, even when they are swamped. The bartenders are efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Music tends to be either really good, or really not good, but it's rare to get the 'not good' experience. Don't miss it.

Go retro with the Shelter, the grooviest lounge in town..
The Scene
The Shelter is Tucson's pinnacle of retro-lounge cool, where lava lamps, velvet curtains, mirror balls, and black velvet paintings provide newcomers with an instant cheeseball high. This tiny bar housed in a former bomb shelter is stuck in 1962, adorned with JFK tapestries and Nancy Sinatra movies on the TV. Practically a local legend, this is the best bar in Tucson for those who enjoy a sense of humor.
The Booze
A great beer selection and martinis (shaken, not stirred) ensure that weekend nights are jammed, but the mood tends to be a little more relaxed during the week.
While You're There
Lounge acts and funky DJs cram into the corner a few nights a week, but usually the piped-in classic (and not-so-classic) retro tunes set the mood and provide the aural entertainment. Health nuts beware: This concrete bunker-of-a-bar is one of the smokiest locations in the known world.

The Greatest!.
The scene is amazing! The bartenders are great! The owners are friendly. I walked into this bar thinking that it would be set up with cots and a soup kitchen in the back. I was amazed at what one bar can do for your mental well-being. I met my girlfriend/fiance here on groundhog day and it has been eternal bliss ever since. Spend hours in here looking at the hangings/ornaments/lamp/bottom of your glass. You must spend an evening in the Shelter if you are ever in Tucson!
