Mama's is "The Best" from an authentic Italian Family! – Of all the pizzerias in Tucson, this is my favorite -- I love the meatball pizza best! The inside dining is fun -- has a "color" fountain in the middle. The music takes you into a Classic New York Parlor to eat your pizza pie! Order and pay at the counter, they will call you when your order is ready. Seriously the best pizza in Tucson.
Fun for all! If you do charge for soda refills, maybe reconsider? I have beer or wine with mine! They deliver too!
Great atmosphere, mediocre pizza, overpriced – Of all the pizzerias in Tucson, this one is the cleanest, roomiest, family oriented place. The music is a little loud. The crust a little too thin. The method of yelling on a speaker? Stupid. Pay a kid to run to the table and tell them the order is ready at the counter.
Again, for pizza, overpriced. Unless you are ordering meat, it's not meat. It's cheese, sauce, and bread. In this economy, the cost of going out for PIZZA! should not be considered a fancy restaurant dining out experience. Here, it is. I have no idea what they are doing charging for refills, that went out in 1985. For subfar food, you are better going to Dominos at the door. Wish I could say great, but can't.
Great Food – The atmosphere is very comfortable and clean. The food was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. The servings were huge and the price was affordable. The waitresses were very nice and very helpful. We liked it!
Awesome food! – The food is amazing....I've been going to the Magee location for 15+ years now and I always get amazing service and food. The pizza is fresh and so wait times are acceptable!
Average, used to be good – We used to love Mamas, they have always been our staple for pizzas, perhaps for the last 20 years! Im sad to say they have changed for the worse.. There are some great places popping up in town, Zonas in tucson, Angelinas in oro valley and surely more to come. Sorry mamas, i know of at least two others taking your reign!
Just terrible. Wait, wait some more and the pizza's been sitting around until it's cold! – This review is for the East location at Houghton and Broadway.
I ordered my pizza and wings at 5:27 pm and waited until 6:30 to get a undercooked, cold pizza. It was terrible and our family decided not to use Mama's Pizza ever again, even though it's just 5 minutes from our home and very convenient.
This is not the first time I've waited an hour for pizza at this location and not the first time I've gotten a pale, undercooked pizza in which the cheese was barely melted, but cold, just not at the same time. I make a mean pizza myself and with one hour I can make the dough from scratch and have it piping hot and properly cooked, on the table. That's what I'm going to do from now on.
Mama's Pizza has lost our business for good.
CoachRoach Investigation Won't eat here again – KOVA 4 CoachRoach investigation made me sick. I will never eat there again. SHAME ON MAMMA'S PIZZA
I had gone once before and was going to go again. NEVER AGAIN
I am actually outraged, as they are just lazy. It takes no more effort to keep a clean restaurant, verses a disgusting against health code restaurant.
average pizza, horrible service – Arriving for a hopefully early dinner (5PM on a weekend), my friend and I were greeted by, . . .well, by no-one. The area by the cash register was vacant, the restaurant had at most 4 or 5 patrons, tables were piled with the remnants of past diners, but there was a pizza-twirler visible in the glass enclosed kitchen, so we knew that Mama's was open for business. After five or so minutes, spent examining the short menu repeatedly and looking pleadingly at the pizza twirler, an order taker appeared, reeking of cigarette smoke. Listening to our request for pizza, his response was that pizza orders would take at least 45 minutes, and did we really want to order pizza? Well, yes, we did, so we ordered a small pizza and a salad to pass the time. This did seem curious, given the lack of customers, and the fact that this was supposed to be a pizza restaurant, but it was our first visit, and our thinking was that perhaps the pizza was made with such care and expertise that it would be worth the wait. After 40 minutes, we noticed that other people who came after us, seemed to be getting pizza, so we inquired as to the status of ours. Oh, we gave that pizza out some time ago, someone else must have taken it. Well, given that my name had not been called, this seem unlikely, and it was more likely that our pizza had simply been overlooked. So we settled in for another long wait for the replacement pizza, beginning to regret our decision to have an early dinner, since by now it's nearly 6. Fortunately the second pizza did arrive, and in only 30 minutes. Unfortunately, though it was very hot and fresh, it was totally unexceptional in any way, nearly flavorless sauce, tasteless crust, and not a pizza that we would have returned for, even had it been delivered in a reasonable time. No, we will not return.
Pizza is decent, but service is TERRIBLE – I keep ordering from them because I like supporting local business over chains, and, when they do it right, their pizza is pretty great. I will never order from them again, though, because 5 out of 7 times, the pizza arrives totally cold and looking like it was cooked hours ago. Moreover, general management at the Speedway store has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Don't expect them to lift a finger to make your experience pleasant - they'd rather lose your business. And as a Tucson resident who has never complained about food or service, they've set a new bar for me - I will never go back and plan on contacting the owners.
Not for us – We have heard Mama's commercials for years so when we were going by on Speedway and noticed it tucked back, we pulled in. First, we were greeted by, well, no one. We went to a counter and were told to take a seat. We did but that had its challenges. Some were not bussed and some were piled high with trays of previously bussed tables.
We looked for a menu and spotted one at an adjacent table but it was greasy so we found another. After waiting for a few minues, we realized that we had to go up to place our order, which we did. One medium pizza, one sandwich and two sodas were over $30.00. To us, that was a lot, considering we had no server.
The pizza was just ok but very large. My son said the sandwich was good and also very large.
The big negative to us was the lack of cleanliness and friendliness. Oh, well, better luck next time. Unfortunately, it will not be at Mama's. Sorry. We are always looking for good pizza.
