This family-owned nursery adds color to a desert-dweller's urban landscape.
The Scene
Harlow Gardens is a 4,000-square-foot pavilion painted in bright, fun colors, reflective of the popular Mexican trend. The store specializes in adding color to your garden in the form of unusual orchids and bright, stand-alone potted creations.
The Goods
The store was started in 1939 by John Harlow. His two sons, John Jr. and William, still own and run the store. They've spiced up their desert plant offerings with orchids, which are sometimes hard to care for. They tout only the hardiest plants from their vendors. Locals claim this shop has the best selection of pottery in Tucson.
