Tucson >Sushi Garden Restaurant
MAYBE. I CAME TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT WITH 15 OTHERS.. YES, SERVICE SUCKED, DRINKS WERENT REFILLED, AND THE TERIYAKI TASTED LIKE CARDBOARD WITH SAUCE.. IT WAS CHEAP. BUT , THAT WAS PROBABLY THE BEST PART OF THE VISIT.. IM A SUSHI PERSON AND HAVE TRIED IT ALL AND LOVE IT ALL.... THE SUSHI PLACE IN FRONT OF THE HARKINS THEATERS IS WOTH EVERY DINE I BELIEVE. TOTALY OPPOSITE OF SUSHI GARDEN.
The Service. They share tips at Sushi Garden. The servers wander around aimlessly like chickens with their heads cut off just doing whatever needs to be done. There is no order to this madness. 95% percent of mistakes made at Sushi Garden are due to some miscommunication between the 6 or 7 servers that have visited your table and confused your order and each other. There is no accountability for the mistake because no one owns it and no one knows who it was; therefore, the blame is placed up in the air and forgotten about, while the restaurant continues to lose money on server mistakes, but does nothing to correct it. That being said, it is still one of the busiest places around Tucson, and the money is consistently good.
I would not recommend this place for a happy hour. My friend and I were looking for a place where we can get sushi after shopping at foothills mall. Came in and it so happened that it was still a happy hour deal. We have two menu one pricing for happy hour and another one for regular pricing. We decided to mix some order with regular menu and a few from happy hour menu. we ordered a few and noticed that they put more rice than anything else, we had left over. I asked the waitress to put the few left over in a box for us to take home. They were charging us $8 for a few left over. We were not inform that we incur charges if we decided to take home. I won't come back again to this place.
Not worth it.... The service was slow, the buffet was sparse and bland and the tables were about 1 foot apart from each other, nothing like having someones rear end inches away from your food while eating.
Worst place I've eaten.
Their teriyaki chicken is the worts I've ever had in my life(Yokohama rice bowl teriyaki is better even thoug is a fast food place) also my son loves to eat chicken strips and we asked for some kind of chicken strips plate and my son did not eat any of them, then I tried it and they tasted like plastic, no wonder he did not eat any at all. I would not recomend this place and I am not coming back never. Also is expensive for the food you get. As soon as we got out of there my friend started to get a rush in his face and arms kind of an allergic reaction for the sushi he ate. My husband asked for sushi and it was not good at all.
Do not go there.
don't eat here. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. I went there with a group of friends and they had all been there before, but it was my first time. I've been to a quite a few sushi places, and this was by far the worst. Terrible sushi, terrible service. For me the sushi was almost inedible, after my first piece i couldn't choke down any more. It had a really weird taste and did not seem fresh at all. save yourself the trouble and dissatisfaction and go some where else.
Avoid at all cost.
Went to sushi Garden for the first time last night, to try their all you can eat menu. The menu is quite large, with a good selection of rolls and nigiri. I also went during happy hour so i came away with a $4 Sake Bomber. So good so far, then came out the Sushi, It looked good, besides the flourescent Tuna, and that was about it, the freshness of the fish was clear. It was not fresh to say the least. All pieces tasted weird to me, So I tried the rice alone, wasn't that, so i tried the wasabi alone, although that wasn't the best, it still wasn't that. So I tried the Yellowtail, Shrimp, and Tuna alone, Found It! It is obvious that this is not fresh fish. There was a foreign taste to it, that tasted like plastic mixed with some sort of preservative.
If you want good tasting fish this IS NOT the place to go. I couldn't imagine ever eating even a small order of Sashimi. Sorry but this desert Sushi place should be avoided at all cost, I am just glad I did not get sick. Sushi Rookies will be tempted by their commericals and all you can eat, but please don't ruin your first experiences because it can ruin your Sushi experience for the rest of your lives.
No Sushi Dance for me!
Some of the best sushi I've had and at the best price!.
Sushi Garden has delicious, fresh, and very reasonably priced sushi! I have been to numerous places that are much more expensive and the sushi was never better than Sushi Garden's. The new location at the Foothills Mall has decor that is very chic . The Alvernon and Broadway location is the original. The interior is a little less hip. But the sushi is still good and that's the most important thing! The lunch buffets are good considering the price but the selection on the sushi available from the buffet is a little limited. But there is a nice variety to choose from considering the rest of the items. The all you can eat for $20 is a good if you have a big appetite but beware, you must finish everything you order, including the rice!
Sushi Garden (either location) is a must try for anyone. Whether you are wanting to try sushi for the first time or you've been eating it for years!
You'll pay for the food, not the service.
First off, I do have to say that the food is excellent. I've been back 6 times and never once did I get a fishy piece of fishy, if you know what I'm saying.
...However...the service is something to be desired. Depends on who the server is but over 50% of the time I've been there I don't get refills and have to track down the waitress for additional food. Hopefully the servers are getting the message when they don't receive a tip, but that doesn't seem to be working very well.
If the restaurant would upgrade the quality of its servers, it would be absolutely the choice place to eat.
Plates were dirty, appeared to be wiped down!.
My family and I visited your restaurant on 01/06. Needless to say we had a bad experience with the cleanliness of the flatware. We had a party of six, when the plates were brought to us, I was the first to immediately notice that the plates, I was sitting on the table where the sun hits and was able to observe the dirty plates right off the bat, initially I thought it was the 1st one, then we decided to inspect all 6 of the plates and this was the case for all, all 6 WERE NOT ran through a dishwasher, you can still see residual grease and either the napkin marks, or rag marks that apparently were used for wiping these down. Please do not confuse the residual that is at times left over on plates after being removed from a dishwasher, I myself use a dishwasher and know first hand exactly what that looks like and have been to several places where this is the case, this absolutely was NOT the case at the Sushi Garden, the plates were obviously dirty all 6 of them, one even had a reddish liquid smeared on the side of the plate(like left over from a previous customer), not only where these "wiped down" it was done in a very sloppy way. We asked the waitress to call the manager so that we can bring this to his attention. Manager tried to explain that the dishes "are ran through a machine" but I am 100% sure these were not. We got up and left.
There are so many health hazards, especially in a sushi place, and the thought that Sushi Garden can care less about their customer's health just disgusts me. If they don't care enough to serve clean plates where it's ovbious to the custome, wonder what goes on behind the scenes. FYI-they have several violations, per the PIMA COUNTY HEALTH DEPT.
