Great atmosphere, terrible service. I had been looking forward to visiting Kon Tiki for some time. The theme is amazing, and walking through the door was like visiting an exotic location. I was there for a quick drink and appetizer before a movie, but nothing was quick. With only 6 other people sitting at the bar top, the bartender didn't seem to have much time for me since he was busy talking to a restaurant reviewer. (Seriously, haha!) The drinks were almost syrupy, they were so fruity and sweet. I ordered the fried shrimp appetizer, which was 4 pieces of shrimp for $6.50. My date ordered the 12 piece wings for $12 and was given cheap, chewy chicken. Possibly the worst wings I've tried in Tucson. We had to wave the bartender down for refills on our empty glasses, and it was difficult getting the check. For 2 fruity drinks, a bottle of beer, and our gross appetizers, the bill came to $35. It wasn't worth $10 and I would never return.

Best place for everything. The best place to get numerous drinks and fantastic food the manager is the best at what he does

Friday Happy hour, good luck finding a table. I like coming here, the food is good, the conversation is good and the atmosphere is dark.

The drinks will knock you out, literally. The wait staff is extremely busy. be prepared to, wait about 15 minutes before having someone greet you. People watching hilarious to see, girls overdress and tring to walk around trying to schmooze and steal a chair.

This is the place to be after work. But if you are really thirsty, and hungry, not a good idea.

And yes they do not inform you when happy hour is over, or when the appetizers are no longer half price. You have to ask.

Thieves and crooks!. The worst experience I have ever had eating out.

I came with a large group for happy hour. We asked if it was happy hour when we came in. Yes, its happy hour. So everyone orders discounted food and drink. We stayed for quite a while, and ordered several rounds of food and drink. Everytime the waitress took more orders we asked "Is it still happy hour?" "Yes, its still happy hour, everything is still discounted."

When the full price bill came to $100's more than anticipated, the waitress explained that we were not sitting at a designated happy hour table!!!!!!! After assuring us with every order that it was happy hour, she neglected to mention that it did not apply at our table!!!

The manager REFUSED to come speak with us. Only after about 45 minutes, while we refused to leave until the bill was settled, did the manager come to our table. He was furious that we pulled him away from his other duties! He absolutely refused to compromise on the price of the bill.

I would never EVER return, even if they held the only liquer license in town!

Fun Atmosphere. Great Food Lot of dishes with coconut. Drinks a little exspensive but worth it with the souvenier cup

A great bar - only in Tucson!. I love coming here. The decor is straight out of Trader Vic's (don't know what that is? look it up), the waitresses are very nice and quite prompt with service, even on the busy weekend nights. The drinks are filled with alcohol and cheap - but if it's your first time, get the Scorpion, the signature drink. Just make sure you have a DD if you get one! The food isn't bad either. If you're in Tucson, be sure to stop by.

Tropical fantasy comes to life with lethal cocktails and a Polynesian party palace atmosphere.. The Scene
By the early 1960s almost every American city had at least one restaurant dressed up to look like a hut, where women in grass skirts served drinks with little umbrellas and pineapple slices. The moat at the front entrance is now dry and the restaurant could use a new coat of paint, but Kon Tiki has managed to extend its heyday into the 21st century.

The Booze
The bar is usually packed with hipsters bypassing the dinner menu in favor of Kon Tiki's infamous mixed drinks. The fishbowl-sized Scorpions are legendary. Hawaii Five-O, CAP and Drink of the Gods are other creatively names favorites, but cocktail-drinkers will be spoiled for choice. Beer selections are less exotic.

While You're There
Though famous for its lethal concoctions, Kon Tiki serves Polynesian specialties for lunch and dinner until 10pm.

awesome. WE WERE VERY SUPRISED. WE HAD AN EXCELLENT DINNER. GREAT RIBS AND SHRIMP AND THE BANANA BREAD WAS DELICIOUS. THE KON TIKI ATMOSPHERE IS A LITTLE OLD BUT STILL HAS A LOT OF CHARM. OUR WAITRESS "AMY" WAS ALSO VERY HELPFULL AND VERY PERSONABLE. WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN.
