I had never been to this location but assumed that the experience would be the same and called several days ahead to make reservations for Mother's Day. I was told that no reservations were needed, and that seating would not be a problem. My 87 year old mother, who has mobility issues and can't stand for long periods, was really looking forward to the meal. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 45 minute wait...Needless to say, we went somewhere else, were seated and served immediately, had a great time and likely spent more than we would have at Mimi's. I wouldn't be upset if we had just decided to go on the spur of the moment, but we drove from Sierra Vista specifically to eat here.
New and Improved. I agree that Mimi's Cafe went downhill for awhile there. There is new management and some new employees. You can see noticable improvements from the food quailty, service and cleanliness. I am happy about that! It was one of my favorite spots. I haven't been in for months but just had a great breakfast today with their yummy pumpkin pancakes and came back for lunch and was impressed with the new menu. Those that gave up like me.....it is worth giving it another try!
Wait staff urges customers "Not to come back".
On my last visit, everything was a mess -- the dining room and the staff. Wrong orders, salad server after the meal and cold food. The waitstaff said "if I were you, I would bit come back either". The manager came over and did not seem surprised in the least -- in fact said the quality of everything was bad.

What happened? This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Do yourself a favor -- eat somewhere else that appreciates the customer and seems to care about the food and service.
Food Served Cold.
I do love all of the flower boxes and décor of Mimi’s but have not yet been able to get a hot meal.
This past Saturday a friend and I met there for an early morning breakfast. I ordered their Crab Eggs Benedict $10.00 and it wasn’t even warm. I was the second person in the door when they opened so know that it had not filled up enough with customers to use that as an excuse.
We had places to go and things to do so I just ate my cold food without complaint because we did not have enough time to wait around for them to heat it up or whatever they would have done to fix it, how do you fix a cold poached egg?
This happened at the Mimi’s at Tucson Mall but I was having this conversation with a relative who lives on the east side of Tucson and used to go to the Mimi’s on Broadway & Wilmot. They had made their complaints while in the restaurant and things never seemed to improve so they no longer go there. They told me that they don’t really do anything when you complain anyway (i.e.: bill reduction, coupon). I was going to call but decided that word of mouth would be my best means of complaining and this review on their web site.
Atmosphere rules at this French New Orleans-themed spot that serves traditional American fare..
In Short
Decorated like a French country bistro with jazzy New Orleans overtones, Mimi's Café was named after a lost love of Arthur Simms, who started the restaurant in 1978 in Anaheim, Calif., with his family. The ambience could only be upstaged by the menu filled with traditional American favorites. Breakfast includes omelets, waffles, muffins and fresh-squeezed juices, while lunch and dinner feature comfort-food classics like pot pie and pot roast, deli-style sandwiches, burgers, pastas, steaks and salads.
Free xl fresh hot muffins if its your first time dining there.. I love mimi's, i've been eating there for years and I try to order something new everytime I go because so far, everything i've ordered has been delish! They have something on the menu for everyone, its a french creole style restaurant with lots of nostalgic wall hangings. They serve a classy breakfast which is sometimes hard to find. They have lots of great soups and stews for those cold wintery nights.
Ugh . . .. I moved to Tucson from Houston about 4 months ago. I've been craving Cajun/Creole food since I left the Bayou City. Mimi's Cafe, which claims to have a dash of Cajun/Creole flavor if you notice the decor, fell short. I've eaten there several times because for some reason my parents like this place. I've had the blue crab cakes, cafe fish n chips, classic beef dip, etc. The only thing that tastes good enough to eat is the corn chowder and the carrot bread. Steer clear of everything else for fear of heartburn . . .
Mimi's. am a big fan of breakfast out, and Mimi's is one of the very best!! ...the eggs were FRESH...the ambiance delightful, the service was fast, and the price is right!
Always Great. I always have great food and service when I go to Mimi's. This restaurant just can't be beat!
