Real taste of Chicago. If you like the true taste of a Chicago dog then this Luke?s has it. They use Vienna hot dogs where some of the others of this chain do not. The service staff was friendly when taking the orders and food was quickly served. The place is clean. I had a very good eating experience
Whadda Sub!!!.
Was up in Oro V on business 01/17/08 and needed REAL food for lunch; not Oro V sticks and weeds!
Went to Lukes on Thornydale just because of name recognition from something I read somewhere!!!
A HOLE IN THE WALL but clean! Imposing waitstaff but quick quality no nonsense service!!!
Travelled back to Oro V to share and the sammiches got a little soggy but WOW were they GOOD!
Definately want to "overlook their board of fare" a little more in the future!
100% Beef baby!!. Yeah, Luke's rocks my socks off!!! I worked at the one on Grant and Swan and it's family owned. The owners are awsome and so is the food! You guys rock!
holy sausage!. The food is great- a huge portion of beef, onions, peppers, and some other mixed vegetables, in a soggy bun, complete with a big bag of fries and you've got a meal with plenty of calories to share. You should definitly taste this place whenever you're feeling like you deserve a treat.
Good Food, Decent Service. Italian Beef!!! the Sweet Peppers are to die for!!! For those on the east side of town (East of Pantano) you can also get the same good Italian Beef at Kenny D's, which is owned by the same family that owns Lukes. YUMMY!!!
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. For a few bucks, desert dwellers get a taste of the Windy City's monster subs and Chicago dogs.
Real Chicago Style Dogs. Being from chicago I prefer Vienna hot dogs. They have a snap to the casing when you bite into each time. Lukes dogs are just outstanding. The colored relish, peppers and tomatoes realy make it Chicago dog but the best touch is the poppy seed buns! One criticism, I never had crinkle cut fries on a dog in Chicago. They should use the striaght ones that get soft when they're rolled in with the dog in the papaer so you can grab a handfull and stuff 'em in your mouth while you try to pick up the overstuffed dog.
not chicago.
After living in Chicago for over 40 years, I certainly got to know my Itlaian Beefs. Athough, the sandwich was OK, it was definitely not an authentic Italian Beef from Chicago. Everybody in Chicago has an It. Beef with hot peppers. That's what I orderd at Luke's but, it wasn't the same!
A Beefw/hot means hot Giardinera not Jalapenos.
Beef it is, Chicago, It's NOT !
Da Best Beef!. Anyone from Chicago or has experienced many Italian Beefs in the Windy City would understand the preciseness of making an Italian Beef. Outside of Chicago this is Da Best Beef I've had.
made to perfection. It's a greasy spoon, but the burgers are gigantic and done "their way". Share a huge orders of perfect fries or onion rings-too much for one person. The Italian beef sandwich is a must!
