The menu at Athens is dependable, with favorites like spanakopita, moussaka, gyros, lamb dishes, and other Greek favorites, as well as shrimp, sweetbreads, and pasta. All dishes are served in large portions; it's fully possible to make a gratifying meal of only appetizers and soup. The side vegetables are braised especially well, and the quality of the main dishes, if not Olympian, is thoroughly respectable. Athens can be easy to miss from the street; it's in an old house set back slightly from the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and Sixth Street. Reservations are suggested on Saturday nights, but are not usually necessary the rest of the week. Parking along Fourth Avenue can sometimes be a challenge, especially at lunchtime; rest assured that the residential side streets are safe day and night.

I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and I was not disappointed! The food was awesome and the service was excellent. You can eat indoors or on the patio outside (where you can listen to the many street performers on 4th Avenue). This is the place to go if you want Greek food!

This is the place, first date, birthday or other special occasion! Easily the best Greek food in town, nice selection of Greek wine and beer too! Very reasonably priced for the size of the meals and the staff are always very professional and worthy of a good tip. Nice 4th Avenue location. The most vibrant area of the city, stay a while and enjoy!

The moussaka here is especially good.
