The closest to Honduran Food I can ever get in Tucson!. Originally from Honduras, now residing in Tucson, Arizona. I crave for foods from Central America.

Maya Quetzal is the one place I have found in Tucson that is close enough to my country's cooking. :)

Once in a while, I go and get my pupusas con loroco y otros platos tipicos de guatemala.

I recommend this place for authentic central american cuisine. (AUTHENTIC).

Absolutely delightful.. The owner of this restaurant is a charming woman, and the food is nothing short of excellent. This isn't a place where refried beans are overpriced because of the supposed origin of the recipe; they use black beans and artichoke to make some of the best quesadillas I've ever had, and the rest of the meals are just as appetizing, with the ingredients always being flavorful and up to par with the prices.

Highly recommended.

Tired of Mexican? Go for milder Guatemalan in this cozy spot.. The Scene

The small dining room with its murals of the Guatemalan countryside rings with the sounds of traditional music while the outdoor patio offers the opportunity for quiet conversation. Folk art including masks and dolls decorate the walls alongside colorful photos of Mayan ruins and the people of Guatemala.

The Food

Guatemalan cuisine is similar to Mexican but milder, even a little sweet. Taking a cue from the early Mayans, the menu focuses on vegetables whether it's to accent meat dishes or stand on their own. Chiles rellenos are stuffed with Monterey Jack cheese and a mixture of spinach and walnuts. Beets add an earthy taste to the unusual but tasty enchiladas. Tender chicken is bathed in a piquant cream sauce and served with lots of veggies. The specialty rice has a winning combination of rice, cheese, corn and sour cream.
