Different Crowd. Nice old place and love the history, but just a bit of an unusual crowd, but hey... that is Tucson.

Easily one of the best bars in town. Club Congress is one of Tucson's gems. There is always something going on here every night. The crowds can get very lively and loud at times, but the three bar areas allow you to easily find some breathing room. In particular I would recommend checking out 80's night; you will never find a better way to have fun on Mondays nights!

Great food, good drink specials. The Cup Cafe in the Hotel is a neverending dilema for me: great food, vegetarian specials (not just a side salad for me!), charming European cafe atmosphere, and some of the worst service I've ever had, particularly in the mornings. Their system of host(ess) + server + expediter is far too much for such a tiny cafe. But I keep going back, and my tummy thanks me for it.

The club books some great local and touring acts, but the sound is mediocre. Poor acoustics, average sound man. But a night there is usually a good time, with all the people, the drinks, and the dancing. They always have great drink prices (usually something is $1-2 after ten). Sundays, with karaoke, is a great, relaxed night to spend in the Taproom, as is Thursday. Everyone and their mother has passed a blurry evening there on a Monday for 80's night.

Kind of Cool but needs Work. Recently, I spent the night at the Congress Hotel to get a feel of the place and in my opinion, it is one step above a Flea Bag Hotel. This place is sort of cool but the people are not very nice (Strike One), and the food is not that good (Strike Two). I tried to get the local beer there (I believe it is Nimbus) but they didn't carry it for what ever reason. You would think being a local establishment, they would support the local micro, but they don't (Strike Three), and I was out of there. Advice to this place, If your going to play local, you need to support other local business, not the swill beers you believe to be beers in vogue today, the trash mass produced beers form their heyday, the 50's and 60's! And Electric Beer???? GAG ME !!!!!

Tucson's mecca for the terminally hip has live music and a hot dance scene.. The Scene
Club Congress has been Tucson's self-appointed center of cool since its inception in 1985. Probably the closest thing to an urban club experience in Tucson, what was once a collection of artists, musicians, punks, snobs and college kids is now the same, but with credit cards. The club is just one facet of the historic, turn-of-the-century Hotel Congress that also houses a hostel, cybercafe, the Tap Room, and The Cup Cafe.

The Stage
Club Congress books original, cutting-edge bands one or two nights a week with several eras of dance music filling the floor on other nights. Officially, the club holds only a few hundred patrons but the crowd can swell to more than five hundred, including the lobby space.
