Editorial Review for Tucson Convention Center Music Hall – by James Reel
The Scene
The Tucson Convention Center is the city's central performing arts complex, incorporating the TCC Arena, Music Hall and the Leo Rich Theater. Set on rolling grounds, the main buildings are enlivened by fountains and curious abstract sculptures.
The Best
The Music Hall is home to the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Arizona Opera. Originally intended for plays, Leo Rich Theater is now used primarily by the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music. TCC Arena draws crowds to sporting events and megastar music concerts, while two exhibition halls handle the convention trade.
The Rest
Adjacent to the TCC is La Placita, a series of rambling Southwestern-style buildings with shaded benches, cafes and restaurants. Near the Music Hall is the historic Fremont House, preserved to give visitors a glimpse of turn-of-the century Tucson.
